To the Hurting,

Hurt can come in all forms throughout one’s life. We are also guaranteed that due to living in a broken world, at some point we will be hurt. For some it comes through loneliness, and a feeling that no one cares about you. For others, you once had someone that cared about you, but they were taken from you. Then there are those you that were hurt by the ones you love. Broken promises due to broken people.

I’m no different either. I’ve had my share of being hurt and being the one to cause hurt. In the midst of the mess of this world however, there is a voice calling out. One that has created the universe, and also created your very own unique personality. One that has calmed the storms, and shut the mouths of lions. He has called the dead to rise, and forgiven the sins of the world.

This voice, this Jesus, is the same Jesus that comes to you in your darkest hour. When all else seems to have failed you, He draws near to you with this to say:

“Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” -Matthew 11:28

Jesus knows. He sees you in the middle of the struggles and hurt and says, “Trust me to be faithful to handle it.” For an unknown reason however, we often doubt that Jesus could handle such a situation. Our past too messed up. The circumstances too nasty. Even with all our doubts, it takes just that small measure of faith.

“I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”– John 16:33

I honestly don’t know who could end up reading this. I likewise don’t know the struggles you’re going through for those reading. I want you to know though, it will be okay. Despite living in a post-Genesis 3 world, where the ideal is lacking, we can look forward to the coming Revelation 21 reign of the God who desires to love us throughout eternity.
